Israel Photos With A New iPhone App

Friday, June 1, 2012

While I was filming in Israel I decided to test out a new iPhone photography app called VSCO CAM and it's amazing! Visual Supply Co is one of the leading post processing filter and plug in creators and most of my photographer friends use them. Now thanks to the iPhone's incredible mobile camera capabilities, everyone can enjoy, experiment and explore their amazing filters on the go.

What makes a great story? // A discussion with Ken Burns

Thursday, May 17, 2012

I watch a lot of short films, documentaries and movies and I'm constantly in a search for the keys to telling a good story. Yesterday, I stumbled upon this short documentary interviewing a great documentary director Ken Burns(http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0122741/). His explanation derives from his constant life long quest to waking the dead and telling their stories through his documentaries. It's very compelling, interesting and personal, one of my favorite to date.

This video was made by the great people at Redglass Pictures based out of New York City.

The Ball Game

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Yesterday, I went out to watch and photograph the men's baseball team play their final playoff game of the season. They had a phenomenal season and played a great game against the College of Idaho.

All photos were taken on a Canon 60D with a 24-105mm f4 L

For better or worse; An incredible marriage

Monday, May 14, 2012

Holding back tears at work is no easy task, and although I didn't succeed at that, I had to share this story on my blog. I think this is an incredible story, incredible video and an even more amazing marriage.

A sneak peak for tomorrow's new film.

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Tomorrow, APU will release a recap film of this year's 2012 commencement. My team and I, (Chaili, Johnny Andow and Andrew Koskela) had a blast and put a lot of work into filming both ceremonies. I'm really proud of it and hope that a lot of people are going to enjoy reliving the experience of graduating from APU. #iHeartAPU

So there was a flash mob at APU's graduation.

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Last saturday I had the privilege of filming APU's spring commencement and I had a blast. The best part of the night was when they called the last students name, he walked across the stage and then a flash mob erupted. I barely had time to do anything so my team and I did the best we could. Here's to you Class of 2012, you rocked it!

Fix an SLR with Peanut Butter by Casey Neistat

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Today, I'm sharing an awesome, hilarious and really creative video that tells you to save a lens hood with a can of peanut butter. If you've broken one lately or have an old lens laying around, here's how to fix it.

Check out Casey Neistat's YouTube channel, he's an awesome film maker.

Zac and Monica got married.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Our good friends Zac & Monica got married under the most beautiful willow tree this past weekend and it was awesome. I thought I'd share what we did for their wedding invitation. We thought it would be a lot of fun to tell their story of how they meet through a short film and use that as their wedding invitations.

Here is what they sent out.

Finally, a different football coach.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

I'm in the process of finishing a story that I've been working on since September of 2011. It has been the longest and hardest task I've faced yet but it's also the project I've learned the most from. Since then two big name schools have had head coach scandals and both were not pretty and not fair to the players. The story I'm telling is about a coach who's different and wants to use football to make his players better at anything the choose to do in life.

Check out this LA Times article that talks about his influence on his players. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke-nfl-draft-20120428,0,5050897.column

Snapshots from Kenya

Monday, April 23, 2012

I have a great job, an even better boss, and I'm very lucky to be able to travel to some pretty amazing places because of both of them. A couple weeks ago we went to Eldoret, Kenya to visit Don Rodgers, the founder of Empowering Lives International, and film his life and the story of the organization. With over fifty hours of travel time, five days of filming and not enough sleep, we found ourselves welcomed into an amazing culture. It was an incredible opportunity to be there and I hope that in some small way the film we are editing will tell their amazing story.
